Professor Steve Tadelis is the Joe Shoong Chair in International Business at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business where he teaches a variety of courses in economics.
Steve's current research primarily revolves around ecommerce, much of which is based on his involvement with eBay, where he built and led a team of research economists.
Their research focused reducing market frictions by increasing trust and safety in eBay's marketplace, understanding the underlying value of advertising and marketing channels, and exploring consumer behavior in online marketplaces.
Steve's other research interests span the economics of incentives, industrial organization, and microeconomics, with particular interests in the economics of reputation; contracts, outsourcing and privatization; public and private sector procurement and award mechanisms; individual consumption patterns, and the determinants of trust.
Steve earned his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1997.
